Join us for an evening of art and insights as Dr Xavier Bray is joined by distinguished art historian and former museum director, Neil MacGregor. Together, they will discuss MacGregor’s involvement in the development of German museums as well as exploring how Caravaggio’s extraordinary painting Victorious Cupid became part of the Gemäldegalerie’s collection in Berlin. After the talk, there will be an opportunity to enjoy an after-hours visit of Caravaggio’s Cupid.
About the speakers:
Dr Xavier Bray is Director of the Wallace Collection.
Neil MacGregor is an art historian, writer and broadcaster. He was Director of the National Gallery and the British Museum, and a Founding Director of the Humboldt Forum in Berlin. He is the author of A History of the world in 100 Objects and Germany: Memories of a Nation. He currently advises the J. Paul Getty Trust on a major collections-sharing project in Mumbai.
